Wildfire & Forest Health Front Range

The Southern Rockies Conservation Alliance is very sensitive to public and private lands and the threat of wildlife especially in the Front Range of Colorado.

An analysis was conducted to determine how much land is threatened by a potential wildfire such as the Haymen fire that occoured in 2002 and the Four-Mile Fire in 2010.  Federal legislation was passed to facilitate thinning of forest on public lands however my analysis shows that most of the high fire danger areas are in private lands in the Wildlands/Urban Interface (WUI).  The analysis brings together research by The Wilderness Society and Dr. Dave Theobald of Colorado State University
